Children's books link the World

The International Library of Children's Literature is holding an exhibition "Children's books link the World - Hans Christian Andersen Award 2012 & IBBY Honour List 2012" cosponsored by the Japanese Board on Books for Young People, which is the Japanese Section of IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People).

In this exhibition, you can pick up and enjoy about 200 books. For example previous works by the winners of the Hans Christian Andersen Award 2012, the recommended works on the IBBY Honour List (selection of outstanding books) , and works translated into Japanese.

The Hans Christian Andersen Award, called the "Little Nobel Prize", is presented biennially to an active writer and illustrator with outstanding achievements in the area of children's literature. In 2012, María Teresa Andruetto (Argentina) was awarded the prize for writing and Peter Sís (Czech) for illustration.

The IBBY Honour List is a booklist made biennially by the national sections of IBBY from books in the past three years, as works they want to introduce to children in foreign countries. This list consists of three categories: writing, illustration and translation. In 2012, 169 works were selected from 58 countries and regions. From Japan, “Boshi” by Yosuke Inoue was selected for illustration and “Shikago yori tondemonai machi” by Michiko Saito for translation.
We are looking forward to your visit.
