Surveys such as "Jouhoukashakai to seishonen ni kansuru ishiki chosa (survey on young people and the information-oriented society)" or "Seishonen no Internet riyo kankyo jittai chosa (survey on young people's environment for using the Internet)"

This is an international survey which aims to assess the level of learning attained by 15-year-old students worldwide by using a test jointly developed by participating countries. Every three years, a randomly-selected group of 15-year-old students takes tests in the key subjects: reading, mathematics and science.

Agency for Cultural Affairs

Since 1995, the Agency for Cultural Affairs has annually conducted “Kokugo ni kansuru yoron chosa (opinion poll on Japanese language)” for taking measures to promote the Japanese language.

Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare

Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare conducted longitudinal research focusing on children born between January 10 to 17 and July 10 to 17, 2001. “Reading habits” is included in the key subjects of the 8th research.
