Children's Library |
A reading room for children. Children’s literature (picture books, folktales, stories, knowledge books and magazines etc.) published inside or outside Japan is on the shelves. The online catalog for children helps children to search for books themselves. Small exhibitions on seasonal themes are also held.

Meet the World |
This room provides children with materials on the geography, history and folklore of various countries and regions of the world. The materials are selected to stimulate children’s interest in other countries and to deepen their understanding of those countries.

Storytelling or reading events are held on weekends. |

Researcher's Reading Room 1 |
Children’s literature and related materials published in Japan or other Asian countries are on the open shelves. The latest editions of Japanese school textbooks are also available. Anybody aged 18 or over can use this room, but must get a user card first.

Researcher's Reading Room 2 |
Children’s literature and related materials published in foreign countries (except Asian countries) are on the open shelves. Offline electronic publications acquired via the legal deposit system and microform materials are also available. As with Researcher’s Reading Room 1, the user card is required.

Meeting Room |
Training programs are provided for children’s librarians of public libraries and school librarians. |

Museum |
Special exhibitions of children’s literature are held several times a year.

Media Corner |
Electronic publications for children including various exciting CD-ROMs are available. “The Picture Book Gallery” created by the ILCL is provided.

Educational programs for children or lectures by writers of children’s literature or by specialists in the field of children’s libraries are held here.
