Commentary

The rhyming (in Japanese) title and expression on the kagami mochi [ceremonial rice cake] as the character folds his arms are very impressive in this debut work. The main character kagami mochi [ceremonial rice cake] sees his sibling rice cakes being eaten by humans and runs away... The book was published during the New Year when kagami mochi [ceremonial rice cakes] are eaten.
