Commentary

Mitsuoka Mari, who herself suffered from the disaster in Miyagi Prefecture, said that while trying to encourage and cheer up children in disaster stricken areas, she found strong dandelions, with their heads still sticking up through the rubble. This picture book incorporates her hopes that smiles will again grace on the faces of those children like flowers in bloom.
