Commentary

The Sanriku Railway suffered severe damage in the tsunami, but the news that it was partially reopened for operation within just 5 days of the earthquake helped to cheer up not only local residents but also many others. This work depicts the struggles of the people who supported the miraculous recovery of the "Santetsu" (a nickname for the railway).
