On February 21, 2018, the JBBY (Japan Board on Books for Young People) selected books to recommend for the “IBBY Outstanding Books for Young People with Disabilities 2019.”

Every two years, the IBBY (International Board of Books for Young People) accepts recommendations from its National Sections all over the world, and selects and summarizes outstanding books in a catalogue called the “IBBY Selection of Outstanding Books for Young People with Disabilities.”

This year, the JBBY selection committee chose the following eight books from approximately 80 nominees recommended by JBBY members and publishers for the IBBY Collection 2019.

In 2018, the JBBY changed the exhibition’s name to “Barrier-free Children’s Books from around the World,” and will exhibit books from the list (approximately 50 books from 21 countries), including five from Japan.
