1 Lectures
The ILCL has been holding Lecture Series on Children's Literature since fiscal 2004, aiming to widen the knowledge of librarians serving children.
2 Dispatch of ILCL staff as Instructors
The ILCL staff members, as instructors, deliver lectures at various training seminars in Japan.
3 Exchange Meeting on Children's Library Services
The ILCL offers an "Exchange Meeting for Children's Library Services" to the personnel in charge of children's library service in public libraries or school libraries, in order to support them to keep up with latest trends, know various cases and communicate with each other.
Cooperation with other institutions
The ILCL cooperates with related institutions in and out of Japan.
1 Mutual visit program with the National Library for Children and Young Adults in Korea
The ILCL and the National Library for Children and Young Adults in Korea implemented exchange activities in 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2018 sending staff to each other.

2 Exhibitions and events in cooperation with other institutions
The ILCL holds exhibitions or lecture meetings in cooperation with the Japanese Board on Books for Young People (JBBY), Japanese branch of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY), Child and Family Policy Bureau, Japan P.E.N. Club and the embassies of various nations.
3 Cooperation with cultural facilities in Ueno Park
The ILCL holds various events in cooperation with cultural facilities in Ueno Park.
- The ILCL takes part in the program "Museum Start AIUENO", in which 9 cultural facilities in Ueno Park support children to make their museum debuts.
- There are many cultural and academic facilities including museums and music halls inside Ueno Park. Every year from September to November, these facilities, including the ILCL, collaborate and hold the "UENO NO YAMA art festival."
- In cooperation with Tokyo Bunka Kaikan of Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture, the ILCL holds concerts for children.
- The ILCL is contributing to the training programs held by Practical Social Education Research Center, National Institute for Educational Policy Research.
