Naughty children have come to Ueno! -The exhibition "Struwwelpeter and other German children's books" held by the ILCL

The exhibition "Struwwelpeter and other German children's books" was held at the ILCL from January to July 2006.
Takashi Yoshihara, the exhibition supervisor, explains the reason why Struwwelpeter has been continuously read until today and its importance for the German literary history of children's literature as well as its influence on children's literature of many countries.
Children's books from the Nordic countries -How rich the world is!

The exhibition "Northern gifts -Children's books from the Nordic countries" was held at the ILCL from July 2006 to January 2007. Nobuko Fukui, the exhibition supervisor, writes about the exhibition planning and the outline of the Nordic region and its history. She also introduces some reference books.
British picture books in the 19th century from the Winnington-Ingram Collection in the ILCL

The Winnington-Ingram Collection in the ILCL is a unique collection of books published for children's pleasure and education in England from the 18th century to the 20th century.
In this essay, Shin'ichi Yoshida introduces some books of three authors from the collection -Walter Crane, Randolph Caldecott and Kate Greenaway- who made a contribution to the development of picture books. He also mentions the great achievements of the packager Edmund Evans.
