The Great East Japan Earthquake and support for children's reading and school libraries

Since the Great East Japan Earthquake hit Japan on March 11th, 2011, Yumiko Kasai, Associate professor of Tamagawa University, has organized the activity of sending books to children in the affected area. This essay describes the outline of her activity and examines its problems. According to her, professional organizations and those concerned need to cooperate and prepare for disasters, deliberating how to support children through books, reading and particularly, school libraries when a disaster occurs.
Children's literature in Ireland : passing down the memory of the people to children
