This article presents an overview of a recently completed renovation of the facilities at the ILCL, including the newly constructed Arch Building, as well as of the new and revamped services that are now available.

Exhibition commemorating renewal of the ILCL: "Facing the Reality, Soaring in the Fantasy: Fifty years of modern Japanese translations of children's books from abroad"

To commemorate its recent renovation, the ILCL held an exhibition from March 22 to July 24, 2016, introducing modern Japanese translations of children's books from abroad since the 1970s. The author of this article served as curator of the exhibition and provides an overview of its content from eight different perspectives, representing the eight sections of the exhibition.

The ILCL sponsored a lecture by the Dutch picture book writer Marit Törnqvist on November 13th, 2015. In this article, Saki Nagayama, who served as interpreter during the lecture, discusses Törnqvist's background and personality as well as her work and the ideas that inspire it.

Lecture commemorating renewal of the ILCL: "Emily Gravett - Living in Pictures"

The ILCL, in cooperation with the Miyagi Prefectural Library, the Osaka Prefectural Central Library, and the International Institute for Children's Literature, sponsored a series of lectures and workshops for children by Emily Gravett, a picture book writer from the United Kingdom, during February 2016. In this article, ILCL staff member Naoko Nakajima, who served a coordinator at these events, describes the activities that were carried out during this project.
