| Library closed | Mondays, National holidays (except Children's Day on May 5), the year-end and New year's holidays and the third Wednesday of every month (for refiling) Additionally, the Library could be closed without prior notice in case of natural disasters or other public emergencies. Additionally, the Library is sometimes forced to change its library hours temporarily due to weather impacts on traffic conditions. Announcements are posted on the International Library of Children's Literature website and our official X account.

Notice of Temporary Closure
The International Library of Children's Literature (ILCL) will take additional holidays as follows while we update our computer system. In addition, the ILCL will be closed as scheduled on Wednesday, May 20, and Monday, May 25, 2026.
Temporary Closure
The entire ILCL will be closed on Thursday May 21, 2026.The Researchers' Reading Room will be closed from Friday, May 22, to Sunday May 24, 2026.
Please note that the Brick Building of the ILCL will be open during this time, but the following services will not be available:
• Materials in the closed stacks
• Researchers' Reading Room
• Photoduplication Service
• Computer terminals inside the library
Online services such as the NDL Search or the National Diet Library Digital Collections, including user registration and remote photoduplication service, will remain available during this period.
Please note that the processing of photocopies could be delayed during a surge in the number of requests received.
