Resumption of onsite services at the ILCL

Information on suspension of library services or changes in library hours will be announced on the ILCL website and Twitter account.

Last update: August 19, 2020

We are pleased to announce that the International Library of Children's Literature will reopen all its rooms starting July 1, 2020.
We will continue to take preventative measures against COVID-19 as follows:

We are restricting admission by distributing numbered entrance tickets on a first-come-first-served basis on the same day for the following time slots:

9:30-12:00, 12:00-14:30, 14:30-17:00

*Please come to the entrance within the time slot printed on the ticket. Time slots indicate when you can enter the library; you do not have to leave at the end of your time slot.
*You cannot choose your time slot.
*One ticket per person will be required to enter.
*It is necessary for you to receive another ticket if you want to enter the library again after leaving.

Admission to each room will be restricted as necessary when crowded.

You may have to wait even after entering the library. It could be crowded, especially during afternoons on the weekend; it is recommended to visit the library in the morning, as it is relatively less crowded. The number of seats in each room will be reduced in order to keep physical distance between users.

We will ask you to write down your name and contact information at the entrance.

Your information will be used to contact you if necessary in the event that a visitor is confirmed to have COVID-19. We will retain your contact information for a month, and delete it properly when this period expires.

*Based on Article 15 of the Act on the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Medical Care for Patients with Infectious Diseases (the Infectious Diseases Control Law), we may provide public health agencies with your contact information if necessary to cooperate with the active epidemiological investigations.
*If you want to use the Researchers' Reading Room, but do not have a registered-user card, please also write down your name and contact information as part of the entry procedure for the room.

When you enter the library, your body temperature will be checked with a thermographic sensor.

Visitors with a fever will not be allowed to enter. Please refrain from visiting the ILCL if you have a fever, cough, sore throat, or feel fatigued.

Alcohol hand sanitizer is available at the entrance of the library and in each room.

Please be sure to wash your hands and use sanitizer to prevent the spread of infection.

Please wear a mask when you visit the ILCL and adhere to cough etiquette.

Please limit your time at the library and stay only as long as necessary by confirming in advance whether the materials are held in the library.

You can check out the library's holdings on NDL Online. If you won't use the library's holdings nor databases contracted by the NDL, please refrain from visiting us.

Our staff will wear masks.

Anti-infection protective film is installed at each counter. Please be sure that an adequate physical distance will be kept when staff provide directions to users.

Terminals in the library will be cleaned regularly.

Registered-users can apply for the materials held in the stacks and confirm the arrival with their own PC or smart phones after entering the library.
