Reading-room services
On-site reading, copying, and reference services for children's books and related materials are available. -
Services for children
A reading room which centers on enduringly popular children's books and a reading room useful for teens' research. Events such as story hour for children are also held. -
Exhibitions, lectures, and other events
Exhibitions and lectures, and various events on children's literature are held. -
Tours
Library tours are available to provide clearer understanding of the ILCL.
Remote Services
Users can receive the following services at home or via public libraries near them, without visiting the ILCL.

Reference service
Inquiries regarding children's books and related materials can be made through the online Reference Request Form. -
Remote copying service
Copies can be requested via the NDL Search or by post, and can be received by post. -
Interlibrary loan service
Users can access materials from the ILCL collections at public libraries near them (limited use).
Digital Library Services
The ILCL's various digital resources and information are available via the ILCL website.
- NDL Search
- NDL Search enables patrons to perform comprehensive searches of materials and digital content at the NDL as well as at public, university, and specialized libraries or academic research institutions in Japan.
Patrons can apply to become a registered user or request library services. - RESEARCH NAVI (mainly in Japanese)
- This system navigates users to information on children's books, children's reading, and related subjects.
- NDL Digital Collections
- This site enables a user to search and view a variety of resources, collected and stored by the NDL.
- Online Gallery
- Each exhibition is organized thematically, using digital images of combined with commentary.
