Introduction
The fox hunters gather to the sound of horn in the morning. The fox escapes beyond the pastor’s gate with the hounds in hot pursuit. The two couples waiting to be wed are left standing when the pastor disappears for fear of the dogs. Caldecott interprets this traditional ballad with his distinctive wit and offers a superb portrayal of the character of each figure in the story.
